More Information

Thank you for supporting HappyMOMents CIO.  We are a registered charity focussing on improving family life and opportunities for the last 6 years.

We work closely with local schools, maternity services and hubs to develop opportunities for our families which are not available locally or are too expensive for many of us.  Funding opportunities are few and far between so we need your help to continue to help those families who rely on us.

Why Our Community Needs Help:

Improving wellbeing and education is our approach to the challenges we face in our deprived community.

Deprivation:

Local levels of deprivation are around 1 in 3 households.

We live in the top 10-20% of the most deprived areas in England (https://www.kirklees.gov.uk/beta/information-and-data/pdf/KMC_ID2019.pdf)

This deprivation is historic and has been compounded by the current cost of living crisis; we subsidise our high-quality classes to ensure our families can afford them

Education:

Local children in Kirklees make less progress than their peers (66.9% making Good Levels of Development compared with 69.3% Nationally, Kirklees 'Learning & Skills Annual Report 2016)

We have a network of over 2000 local families who we support with our dedicated team of more than 30 volunteers and trained instructors.

We are passionate about early learning opportunities to help address this disparity; in a recent study, "those who lived near a Sure Start centre performed better at GCSEs than those who lived further away, but the trend was more pronounced among those eligible for free school meals, and those from minority ethnic backgrounds."(https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-68763942).

We run our classes from old Surestart centres in Batley & Dewsbury, in the hearts of our communities who need this help the most.

Maternal Mental Health:

1 in 5 women will experience postnatal mental health issues, and this is higher in women of South Asian and Black heritage.

We create safe spaces for women to be themselves and allow them to grow in confidence and skills, which helps them to become better mothers.

By supporting HappyMOMents, you are helping over 2000 local women and their families.

How we help our community:

As you can see from our website our team is incredibly busy! We support families and babies right from conception with our Positive Birthing Antenatal Classes, offering breastfeeding support once your baby is here, and helping moms to bond with their babies through our baby massage classes.
Our carefully crafted baby sensory and toddler sensory classes help babies and children to develop a range of skills, as does our fun and educational stay & play class.
Our volunteers also support single moms, education for women, participation in maternity research projects and we host community engagement events too.
Your brand can be part of this.

Our vision is to create a strong, well-educated community that benefits all our families for a better and safer future for us all.  Join us on this journey.

How Your Sponsorship Can Help:

Be part of our revolution to reduce waste and support families through the cost of living crisis that is affecting us all; By sponsoring us you will help us to host the HappyMOMents Mini Treasure Market and be able to host our classes at subsidised rates that more families can benefit from.
All our classes are oversubscribed and we need more funding to host more subsidised classes; our fundraising from this event will help us to be more sustainable for the community for the long term.
Be part of the HappyMOMents family.
